Introduction:
Going is a post-apocalyptic thriller that explores the mystery of a near future where the world has ended, but one of our protagonists is blissfully unaware of this fact. The film is a unique look at how a couple’s relationship can endure in even the most dire circumstances.
Inspiration:
The original concept for the project was inspired by how the writer’s parents took care of his maternal grandmother in her later years. The story of Going was written as a truly unique look at how relationships can be forced to evolve when facing an existential threat.
The Process:
Going was filmed in December 2023 in the rolling hills of the Cotswolds. Made on a shoestring and filmed over 5 days, our crack team of filmmaking legends all contributed to creating a long short boasting tour de force performances and high-level world-building that would have traditionally have commanded a much larger budget.
The schedule was one of our biggest mountains to climb. Shooting in December gave us the aesthetic we needed for the story, but also reduced our daylight hours dramatically. The production team maximised pre-prod hours in early mornings and late evenings to mitigate the shorter filming slots.
What It Means to Be a Finalist:
Being officially selected and also nominated for two awards at Worcester Film Festival is a huge boost for our project. Being a BIFA qualifying event has secured our entry for the 2025 awards, and with the writer and co-producer, Brad Brookes, originally from the Midlands, it’s an honour to bring the film to home turf.
