Introduction
My film, Call of Inishmore, captures the Celtic Soul of Ireland’s most beloved island. Like many of my other projects, the film expresses my love for Irish history, culture, and music.
Inspiration
Always at the top of my “must-see bucket list”, I finally visited the Isle of Inishmore two years ago. The island was as stunningly beautiful as I had imagined! Upon return to the States, I was inspired to compose a song based on my visit to that mystical island. Once the song was fleshed out, I immediately knew that I wanted to make a film based on the song. I brought Morgan Brothers (Galway, Ireland) on board to produce it, Jake Morgan to Orchestrate it, and for Luke Morgan to shoot the drone footage. I was also able to get the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra to record the piece. The music and gorgeous cinematography beautifully meld together, creating a truly magical piece of cinema.
The Process
Call of Inishmore is the creation of a truly international group, made up of USA-based producers, Ireland’s own Morgan Brothers, and Great Britain’s prestigious Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Morgan Brothers took on the creative challenges of working with folks from different continents and time zones, whilst coordinating recording, filming, and travel schedules. Once the music soundtrack was completed and mastered, it was time to head to Inishmore for filming. The island is set adrift where the wild Atlantic Ocean meets the often turbulent Galway Bay. The film was shot in October, when accessibility to Inishmore can be daunting. Luke Morgan billeted himself on the island so he could quickly dart out to film at a moment’s notice. Being on location allowed him, drone in hand, to capture that perfect sunset, cresting waves crashing against towering cliffs, and to shoot foreboding clouds flying across intermittent azure skies.
What It Means to Be a Finalist
As Indie filmmakers, our international team is honoured that Call of Inishmore has been selected as a Finalist by the Worcester Film Festival. It is tremendously gratifying that our film has been recognised by such a wonderful organisation, as we continue to grow our audience of film-going aficionados.
