Introduction

#Followme is a Norwegian dark-comedy about an eco-influencer and her sinister male stalker.
What begins as a classic tale of obsession and stalking quickly twists into a darkly comic battle for control – and for the truth about what is real.
What happens when digital fantasies enter the real world, and how far will the deception and manipulation go?

Inspiration

Online identities are a huge part of our culture and day-to-day lives. This is reflected in the stories told via film and other mediums.
It has been clear for a long time that the online world poses dangers to the real world; however, beyond this notion, we also wanted to explore the digital identities we craft and how the real-world obsessions they lead to are often choices we make, as opposed to fantasies we’re lured into. Ultimately, asking the question: do we actively choose to live in a fantasy over facing up to reality? And what does this mean for how we live our lives?
The film began with the idea for a compelling narrative from writer Linn-Irene Ingemundsen, but as we collectively developed it, it led us to a place where we really wanted to pose these questions, as they were ones that intrigued us along the journey.
Due to the sensibilities of all contributors, we saw a route through this narrative that came with a darkly comedic edge, and this is why we balanced the sinister drama with elements of ridiculous comedy.

The Process

The film was shot across three different areas of Norway: Stavanger, Klepp and Sandnes.
Filming took place over 3 and a half days in May/June 2026 with crew from both Norway and the UK contributing to the shoot.
Our biggest challenge was working across two languages. The script is in Norwegian; however, not everybody on set spoke Norwegian. The solution was that we approached the production with 2 directors. Linn-Irene Inmundsen, who wrote the film and is Norwegian, along with Matt Green, who only speaks English, co-directed the production.
The co-director approach meant that Matt could direct from a performance perspective, taking the lead on communicating to the actors what was wanted in each scene. Linn-Irene then communicated the essence of the script with the actors, ensuring that the meaning and power behind each line was captured in their delivery. Although this approach adds complications, it enabled us to pull off a production between two production partners from different countries, in the native language of the country the film was shot in, whilst still deploying all of the talent that we wanted to contribute to the film.

An organic moment that played out on set was co-director Matt stepping up as stunt double. There is a scene where a car chases a bike, and the character on the bike is knocked off. Not having the budget or training to pull off a high-speed crash, this needed filming in different ways. We had already shot one option; however, we felt we needed another where the actor actually fell off the bike as the car passed him, all in the same shot. In stepped Matt to take the step from behind the camera to in front of it, to act as stunt double for our male lead. As we got into the edit, this shot really worked, and it made the cut. So the bold call that was made on the filming day paid off, and Matt found himself a new sideline as a stunt double.

What It Means to Be a Finalist

It’s an absolute joy to be selected for Worcester. It’s a festival that has a very special place in our hearts. We’ve attended loads of editions of the festival and the community here is second to none. We always meet amazing individuals and have inspiring film conversations at all the networking events. To have our latest film screened alongside what we’re sure is going to be a whole bunch of talented filmmakers is very exciting for us.
Worcester is a beautiful city with a festival that we’re very proud to be a part of, and we can’t wait to see what the 2026 edition has in store.
