Introduction:
My first short movie, the self-produced drama ‘Would You Rather’ is a quiet exploration of self-acceptance and embracing one’s uniqueness.

Inspiration:
Would You Rather’ explores themes deeply meaningful to me, especially as a parent. I felt a strong need to express these ideas through this project.
It is about the importance of our dreams, the only thing each one of us truly owns.
It is about the importance of being accepted for who we are.
It is about never forgetting we always have a choice, a choice to ‘fly away and create our own story’’ as Ashley, one of the characters in the story, says, regardless of what society and people around us expect.
But most of all, it is about the importance of celebrating each one’s differences and embracing the unique aspects that make us who we are.
We are all different, we are all beautiful.

The Process:
Filming took place almost entirely in the London borough of Ealing and was only possible thanks to the generosity, support, and passion of those involved – actors and crew alike, many of whom gave their time freely because they believed in the project.
Because the young actresses were still in school, we had to film around their schedule. This meant the shoot stretched over a month, filming a little at a time. It was slow, but incredibly rewarding.
Despite the challenges, I hope the story resonates with you as much as it does with me.

What It Means to Be a Finalist:
It is an incredible honour to have Would You Rather selected as a finalist at the Worcester Film Festival – such a prestigious and inspiring festival. I’m truly looking forward to the screening, as well as the opportunity to connect with fellow filmmakers and attend the many events and talks the festival offers. Thank you to the festival team for this opportunity!
